Together we stand, together we fall…

All for one, one for all!

IMG_4199Our Vision

Our vision is to re-imagine competitive youth basketball as a means to help kids overcome racial, cultural and economic barriers while providing life-altering opportunities and role models where they do not otherwise exist.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build an organization with a tradition of approaching competitive youth basketball in a way that fosters ethical, responsible behavior, leadership and strength of character. Success for young athletes isn’t properly measured by wins and losses. Their participation requires a commitment to a common goal in an organized, disciplined manner under the guidance of adults capable of teaching those lessons. When kids are properly taught and believe in their coaches and each other, success is inevitable.

Our Program

Team Swoop Youth Basketball Academy, Inc. is a 501(c)(3), charitable organization based in South Florida.  Our program was created to impact the lives of young athletes by developing their character and skill in a program that competes in state and national amateur basketball competitions.

Each season, we select certain kids who deserve an opportunity to be part of this program but who might not get that opportunity because of their situation. We’ve created a scholarship program that is supported solely through fundraising. The program pays for the cost of a travel season for those kids who fit our criteria, including a minimum grade point average. We also consider issues like poverty, welfare dependence, a low level of parental education, a large number of children, not owning a home, single parenthood, family dysfunction, abuse, parental mental or physical illness, parental substance use, and other family discord.  The opportunities and guidance we provide are changing perspectives and will impact lives for generations. We know that, through a program like ours, we can impact these players’ lives by giving them opportunities, role models and life experiences they would not otherwise have. In just a few years, we’ve seen Team Swoop impact the kids, their parents and other caretakers.  We foster friendships across racial, cultural and socio-economic differences, we created the Dream Team Fitness challenge that raised more than $25,000 in its first year to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, won seven USSSA Division I championships in 2015, completed the season ranked #5 (5th grade) and #7 (6th grade) in the state of Florida and, most importantly, finished the 2014-2015 school year with a combined grade point average of 3.5. It is our goal to continue giving back to these deserving young athletes and the South Florida community as a whole.

We lead by example, so we have been accomplishing our goals the same way we expect the kids to accomplish theirs; with relentless effort. Everyone involved in our organization is dedicated and fully committed. We plan, raise money, strategize and adjust constantly. We also talk to the kids and we monitor their progress in school, in basketball and at home. Together we stand, together we fall…All for one, one for all!

Thank you for the support and commitment that makes it all possible.
